martinez would be best player to target, as well as king's 3rd goalie calvin pederson. he's only in ahl because kings can't get rid of quick's contract. kings can have kapinen (no big loss by any means)

I think the leafs should ring the islanders and have a chat about Ross Johnston, and the kings about Mcdermid for a tuff guy. I'd give Dallas a call and see what's up with Steven Johns, There's a few others like Spurgen, Fabbro, Faulk, you could probably throw Bear and Benning in there too I guess. I think Fabbro and Bear would be great in a leafs jersey.

They still need someone to protect their star players, people talk about getting even on the PP, well they don't call many penalties in the playoffs so that is a saw-off, run the Leafs and you beat the Leafs, right now that is the sad truth

Damn, I would love to see Kapanen come to Calgary. That would be an awesome deal for Calgary. I could see Calgary trading TJ Brodie for Kapanen.

Why do the Leafs continually trade their prospects, picks and talented forwards on good contracts for veterans on expiring contracts that they know they can't afford to keep?

i just don't think it's worth trading barrie at this point. We're only paying him 2.5m which is an absolute steal regardless of how bad he's been. Ceci/kappy/johnson etc.[other top forward prospects in the system] make more sense.
