If he comes back Muzzin won't be the same player unfortunately they still need a good defenseman and another forward.
The only player (well not the only player) that I feel will move the needle in the correct direction for the Leafs is a defender and that defender is Hampus Lindholm.
Highly rated forest line defender for years now, he’s 28, 6’3” 215 and can skate well and move the puck well. I don’t know if Anaheim is trying to re-sign him before March 21st but if they are trying to re-sign him they are taking their sweet time.
I think Lindholm at least gives us a chance at moving the needle, settling down a lot of plays that don’t need to be chaotic back there and someone who plays smarter defensively such as TJ Brodie does for the team or perhaps even better than Brodie if you hear what scouts seem to think of Lindholm.
Let’s get Hampus on Campus for starters, hes in his prime and could just be “what the doctor ordered”, or in the Leafs case could be just what the surgeons first request is.
While they're in Anaheim they should pick up Sam Carrick too. Makes less than Engvall for only 4 less points. Kills penalties. And most importantly plays with a chip on his shoulder. Will fight anyone at anytime. Used to be the captain for the Ducks AHL team.
@stephen koller I’ll take Manson as well. Apparently he doesn’t want to be traded to a Canadian team supposedly due to Pandemic travel restrictions. He was born in Chicago right around the time his Canadian dad Dave Manson was going around mugging Leafs players on Hockey night in Canada. I enjoyed every one of those muggings, that’s how much I miss the 80’s/90’s Lol
But ya, Josh Manson, not interested in Canada, not even just for the playoff run before he becomes a UFA this summer.
I'd be very happy to get Hampus. I've been thinking Manson, a rental, but a rental with a much needed mean streak.
I've stated here and other channels that Muzzin would want to play even though he is not ready. Back to back concussions require longer than a few months to recover. Suppose he comes back for the playoffs and gets rocked behind his net which happens often in the heated battles in the playoffs...his career would definitely be over!!! Leafs doctors need to over-rule any mention of him coming back this year! Put him on LTIR so Dubas can acquire a replacement.
If anyone can come back from concussions and play it’s Muzzin.
The style he has played his entire career he’s probably had a dozen concussions or more. He’s rumoured to be skating already and will want back in the lineup soon. Jake is the type of guy that won’t miss the playoff games for the world but I agree that he and the Leafs should delay his return as long as they possibly can even though he’s skating again.
Get Eric Lindros to give him a call and talk about returning too soon after getting his bell wrung...Geez.
I think regardless of the fact Muzzin is skating on his own in my opinion he will be out long term i don't think the Leafs will bring in a mind blowing D-man they will add to their depth with a low value contract
Why would Dubas bring Muzzin back early if the leafs can qualify for a trade deadline cash bonus by keeping him out. It seems like a no brainer.
They're definitely going to keep him out. Dubas just can't say "if he's healthy, we'll leave him on Robidas island to cheat the cap". They have to suggest he'll be back if he can.
My nephew got a concussion over 20 years ago playing hockey still has the affects of this today
They still need a D man, forward and maybe a goalie. They can't go into the playoffs with this roster
I am hoping the leafs do all their trades prior to the deadline to avoid bidding wars. I agree with you that Muzzin should sit until the playoffs to be safe with his condition to be safe. He should relax and take one for the team
I hope this doesn't become an argument from Muzzin to say he's fine and ready to play, but the Leafs keeping him out due to cap and pending trade additions.
Leafs need Muzzin now!! Bruins will pass them this week and Washington soon as they have earned 9 out of the last 10 possible points (Leafs earned 5). I can't realistically see them drop out of the play offs but the last spot is no place for a team with semi pro goalies to start.
Hey Andy its Joey how are you? I'm wondering who do you think the leafs will get at deadline and why? Also love your videos keep them coming go leafs
What if you trade Holl and dermat then you will have 3millon in cap space 👍
The Leafs should force Jake to sit out for the duration of the regular season. No one gets 2 concussions in 6 weeks and is 'ok'...what is the point of coming back to soon because you feel ok, then taking one hit and being out again?. Jake seems to be very fragile these days, and gets injured frequently.Look at Kase, had some concussion issues, and look how many times he has been held out for a couple of games. The way it looks they are both likely to be injured before completing one round of the playoffs..Leaf need to add at least one D and i think if they can make a deal for a reliable goalie they should do that also, because that is becoming a real issue as well.
gotta say again...him skating means 0. It's them testing what happens, a skate alone is nothing like a practice a game. To me this is Dubas saying go out skate push a bit tell us how it goes (so dubas get his good/bad answer)
The Leafs are primed to repeat past mistakes. Look at the stretch of what has been happening in the past 10 games. We are losing a lot more games and when we win it is done by putting up a lot of goals. I'm a Leafs fan, but I ask myself what happens when we make the playoffs and we have to play Florida or Tampa? I'm not convinced this team can succeed in the playoffs. I really think we need to upgrade the defense, add some depth scoring, and pray that the goaltending gets better.
Jake Muzzin, take your time, we need and want you here in T.O. Andrew, we will still need 1 more Dman and a Right winger for J.T. Anyone who is still stupid enough to think we should keep nylander, give your heads a shake. Willy gives the puck away to Van who put it in the empty net, willy gives the puck away on the p.p. again tonight for a goal for the Kracken, the list could be endless!!! DUBAS, TRADE WILLY YESTERDAY!! Great show Andrew!
not sure why you said it looks like he will return (Muzzin) "skated today ni timeline for return." ya he skated? so what? it's called seeing what happens when he pushes it a bit...Dubas needs the answer to is Muzzin done till playoffs? or can he come back 2 weeks b4? Deadline is coming fast.
It not going to be no second round for Toronto again this year
With all the money at MLSE, they still lack savvy. LTIR helped Tampa win cups. Vegas is doing the same thing right now. Muzzin's injury certainly justifies LTIR until the playoffs. But nah, it doesn't look like it's going to happen. We'll get a mediocre Muzzin down the stretch followed by his annual playoff injury.
Perhaps the NHL has a protocol in place to monitor the progress of an injured player and thus preventing a team from keeping him on L.T.I.R. just to scam the cap space. I mean, they must have thought of that.
you mean like with Kucherov and other players that magically healed for the playoffs. with concussion it's pretty easy to say it's worse than it is.
Leafs won`t bring him back this year unless he is very healthy at playoff time, They have to do the Tampa thing.
Put Muzzin in goal! Can't be any worse than current goaltending.
😱🤣
Toronto not getting out of the frist round again this year
Doobie has his work cut out for him then.
He does. He can’t sit idle, if Leafs get eliminated 1st round he’s a goner no excuses or questions asked, he just lost too often when it mattered and his firing will be deemed due to being “unacceptable” in this market, would be an easy firing so I think Dubas (knowing this) will deal a 1st, 2nd, Lilijgren, and some prospects on the marlies.
Will keep Robertson, Niemela, Knies in the system. No choice but to expend the picks, Matthews clock ticking, we can stockpile picks later when he have no chance of having a potent team again for a century Lol
Doobie got go
Dubas is stupid keeping meraze should just trade all in for Fleury. It's so obvious leafs big problem is on goaltending..If he doesn't do anything at the trade deadline and they end up being eliminated on the playoffs he should get fired big time
Leafs are screwed if they don't give assets or get retention. They need to win now or u can kiss keefe and dubas goodbye
I see it the same way, how is Dubas going to sit tight at the deadline just because Foligno busted last year. Chalk it up to a bad choice of talent, bring in a player that can play 23:00 min on defence, and is having a good season. This will move the needle more than a washed up grinder will skating around the ice aimlessly. A defender that is better than the ones they have, say equal to TJ Brodie at least or better would surely move the needle a touch in the right direction at least.
Leafs need to win now or before Mathew’s contract expires.
They can stockpile picks the because they will not be in this position in the standings for half a century at least after Mathew’s is gone
I’d go all in on Fleury. As far as Muzzin goes, I’d bring him back in the second round for the PP and PK
They say Fleury wouldn’t leave Chicago but that’s only because of how sour he was to get traded to Chicago. He’s stated since he’d like to play in the playoffs so I think he would agree to go to a team that’s in. Chicago would certainly take what they can get.
I suppose there’s no Santa Claus either. I thought this was Leaf forum
Fluery isn't leaving Chicago
*nylander for chychrun & vejmelka*
@Duke we are getting real close to a rebuild especially if he retires this year .shuvers at that thought.stevie y has got it going in Detroit it's very interesting to see what u think are minor moves cash in coupla years later.got some more coming too.he gets all the credit in my book for all the tb success and they are still going to be contenders for years to come.way I see it in the east going to be 4 pretty good teams gone in first round.dont know who u or I would want to face in first round
@Bruce Bridger ya so true. I look at Bergeron and its amazing how his quality just filters through the lineup. Hes one of the top players for many years and a sure fire hall of famer. Its amazing what can be accomplished with 1 or 2 elite players, excellent coaching, and reliable goaltending with a supportive farm system. Like you say alot has to go right to get there, and breaking through in the playoffs can be so difficult.
@Duke actually I'm a bruins fan but get so much leaf news and do love seeing how teams are constructed to produce winners.that last hump is the big one to get over but have to go for it at deadline.my bruins farm system pretty deleted after giving away much in last few years to try to win.makes it tough to make deals never know if additions will mesh as good as what u already have.its tough when u are all in on pure rentals and go out early
@Bruce Bridger ya for sure, Leaf fans get a bad rap . People act like we're all crazy lol, but nobody knows hockey like Leaf fans, we know the game and we are all on the same page. We deserve a winner and I hope we can acquire some real quality like Chychrun at the deadline. Good chat to u too, we'll chat again by the deadline , hopefully its positive. Hey at least we got Matthews right!! Lol. Wow this guy is a comet, just a certified beauty👍🏽
@Duke gotta say it's nice to be able to have a civil discourse without any name calling just good old hockey talk.u have some valid points but I do believe chrycun has potential to be special for a long time.
Yes to me ... this is about Muzzin as a human being .. NOT about cap ramifications .... and peaple need to STOP pushing a naritive that muzzins going to be back cause he skates.
Great job as always andrew.
Subban to Leafs.
Stop smoking so much weed
