the last 10 minutes of this video has to be some of the best, most heartfelt, funny media I have seen in a long long time. It's like top gear but for our generation. I was cheering when you pulled the green screen back to show another clapped out WRX. Legends, the ebay motors ad during the brake fade test was hysterical, so was the donut media merch bit next to the totalled old high car. Awesome awesome video, I can really see the progress you're all making with how well these are filmed, how funny some of the moments are, how genuine the connection between you all feels. This one is really really good guys, well done. Next payday I'm buying some fricking merch, hope it helps with however many more EJs you'll need.
@Auto Kingdom what would u spend and what would u buy if you’re not spending thousands and not just purchasing brakes and rotors? Not being rude. I literally don’t know an option and would like to know if there is one.
@2nd_place yeah i know people very glad they bought up old "beaters" during "cash for clunkers" and kept them around, 10k for something that wasnt worth a 1/3 of that at best a few years before... and actualy easy to work on vs modern vehicles..
Production and Editing quality of Donut is amazing. Simple, Easy to follow and the placement of their ads is genius. Flows Everytime. Love you guys at 🍩
Man I love this episode especially the surprise new hi car part you guys are awesome and that never give up working on cars part made my day /night lol I work night shift ,love all you guys !! You guys are all hilarious at times keep up the awesome work !!
“Pumping these brakes are the worst thing that’s ever happened to me.” That right there is what they call foreshadowing. But seriously I feel for James. Between his Instagram post and him saying he doesn’t feel qualified I can tell that was hard on him. Even if that had been the end of HiLow we would still love you James. You will always be qualified to us.
Massive second on this, James honestly makes donut for me and it wouldn’t be anything as good as it is without him and I hope his confidence isn’t too shaken by this
End of hi low? They're making a killing on these video's. Getting 2-3x the amount a views on these plus the ebay sponsors it's a laugh. Prob cost another 20k to get the next hi car up and going meanwhile ebay motor made a million because of advertising
would be interesting, how mutch the difference to stock from the low breaks are. Is it worth the cheap upgrade or just stick to stock and save up for high breaks?
Thank you for this series and my thought for decades that owning a Subaru (especially a modified one)is a costly disappointing decision for an independent no budget driver.
The fact that Jer came out to help film even when he wasn't scheduled is a testament to how awesome it must be to work at Donut. When you want to work. That says a lot.
For anyone who’s worked on a set, you know how much it sucks to find out last minute that you’ll be working through the weekend to try and keep up with schedule. Thank you Adam for keeping this season of Hi Lo alive
@TheBombDoctor more like WHAT? YOU MEAN I HAVE TO WRENCH ON A CAR THAT ISNT MINE THAT SOMEONE ELSE CRASHED THAT I GET VERY LITTLE BENEFIT OUT OF ON THE WEEKEND???? The issue isn't that he "had" to race them around a track, it's that he had to build the third WRX over the weekend just to keep the show on schedule
@_eighty7 I considered the possibility of the guy joking and was fairly sure he was, but decided to write the comment anyways to answer anyone wondering if he really stood there or not.
New Hi-Low episode idea: Racing schools, James goes to the top of the line school with 1 on 1 coaching, Nolan goes to a budget group class or HPDE weekend.
Great video and a load of fun, but one big issue....you really need the same pad compound in my opinion. The pads make all the difference in the world. It's apples to oranges without that. I've slapped in low end rotors with high end pads and had little to no fade on a track. Sure, if you're doing lots of laps the rotors help (same with real brake duct cooling, etc,), but for something like this you need the same compound to really compare I would say.
Just wanna say that a lot of other groups would’ve bailed on the season due to something like that, the fact you guys decided to not just keep going but to go overtime to get back on schedule is respectable and very much appreciated you guys never fail to keep my love for cars up, Donut Media= 🐐
The sustained high G corners on this track are likely why you're going through engines. Time for a track-focused oil pan with proper baffling in it for both cars. That and doing the cylinder 4 cooling improvement mod since you're hot lapping all the time.
@Emily I am also on the FXT bandwagon, I have an 07 I've done a full STI upgrade. Pushing 250 WHP and 275 TRQ, stock internals with 140,000 miles. The EJs are fine if taken care of properly.
@mastrFlex finally somebody with a brain amongst all the "kekekek head gasket" jokes lol. Its like you said, its not a pre-built track car so by thrashing it like this theyre blowing engines over and over in increasingly stupid ways lol. Hopefully they address these issues in the future vids 😞 im an fxt girl not even a wrx fan but its still a shame to see these older wrx's (and engines) trashed for no good reason
@mastrFlex Reading your reply and seeing "17 year old car" typed out really is sobering. Can somebody tell me how to pump the brakes on this thing called time? Damn.
@Angel Leonard unfortunately, I think they film the bulk of the series ahead of time, so hopefully they got some advice and changed their plans for the series. I am assuming they plan to do bigger turbos, fuel, etc (front mount intercooler kits are a thing for this gen, too). That's cool, I want to see it. I don't want to see them trash more motors. Jer even did a video going through high car's first failed engine and said it was likely due to oil sloshing in the pan and not staying in contact with the oil pickup. There is a TON of aftermarket solutions for that problem, no idea why they seem to be ignoring it (or at least not talking about it on camera).
Ha! I won the bet. Another Subie engine. Thank you for brining the real version of armature racing with street cars, even if it is expensive sometimes. Oh, and for the love of anything mechanical PLEEEASe buy a proper pressure bleeder if you are going to track cars and constantly work on brakes. Really. You'll thank me later.
Been loving this series across the board. But subarus work better when you have any idea about Subarus. I have a 10 year old tuned wrx hatch that I've never had a problem with. Still, very entertaining series
James might be the main character but true fans of the show I feel preferred Nolan he's intelligent he can wrench and he's a damn good hand at the wheel
From Money Pit in a driveway, to their own warehouse, merch and a production crew. I've been a subscriber since 300k. I'm so proud to see where you have all ended up.
@Thought Criminal I think it's pride in something you really enjoy is blowing up and being enjoyed by others. Part of the reason they get more views is by getting more subscribers, so if you subscribed a while ago I can see the reason you may feel happy seeing them grow like this. I think you just have to try to get better at understanding other people, and what may drive them even if it doesn't drive you. Everyone feels happiness from different sources.
@Thought Criminal It's why I appreciate Lo-car a lot more than Hi-car, even if it's way nicer. You can't get that kind of authenticity you get like with Lo-car. That's Nolan and his team doing everything they can to make it work, just like how your typical garage mechanic would.
@Storminmormn6 yeah its what youtube influencers are all about they get big and when they get big they get greedy then when that happens they lose touch of what made them big , VERY much like mightycarmods in Australia, or cleetus mcfartland, or boostedbois or other click bait boring crap shows like heavyddiesel, a prime example is ROADKILL by motortrend, they did exactly that, and the word is going WOKE, motortrend went big got greedy and lost touch of what made them big then they went off youtube to do a pay per view style crap(much like cleetus mcfarmland) only americans can watch roadkill on the website, the rest of the world has to get and pay for a VPN then they have to pay for a motortrend subscription to watch. motortrend lost millions of subscribers over night by getting big getting greedy and by going woke, a lot of people have also left motortrend over the recent years
Love how High Car has been a huge moneypit in this series. It's proving that a less expensive car can be in a better place to build, if you know what you're doing.
stuffing a car with every bit of cash isn't great for longevity, but you know what is? OUR SPONSOR RAID SHADOW LEGENDS. but also, rooting for low car this time around
when i was 18 my boss made me always climb up into the cars on lifts to pump the brake pedal while he could stand up under the car to turn the bleeder valves. every now and again he would make me come back down and do something and get back up in the car. it took me so long to realize what he was doing
@AMV12S agreed. They really lost their teeth after like 2005-7 for most of their models. I have an 04 fxt and an 03 impreza as a winter beater and theyve never given me anywheres near the troubles i used to have with my 08 impreza, and they feel better to drive to boot. The quality just isnt there anymore
@Haseeb Sheikh Im more of a M52/M54 fan but the N54 isnt that bad anyway :D its one of the least reliable BMW engines but theres no way 3 of them would fail right away just like that...its weird that these 3 failed in this fashion and so fast too
@Haseeb Sheikh The problem is this generation and after. First gen, bug eye and blob eye have none of these problems, specially first gen. I don't know what happened in Subaru but over the years, WRX and STI became less rally focused and more "civilian"...
Love how this series really captures the reality of owning a subaru
Never had a problem with Subarus owned em for 150,000 miles no crazy problems
@Damien Lee or someone who has save their cheddar for a nice car u pay for what u get
The reason the car blow up was because it was a brand new motor and they did not do a breakin
Well… it doesn’t.
Needs mo flannel.
the last 10 minutes of this video has to be some of the best, most heartfelt, funny media I have seen in a long long time. It's like top gear but for our generation. Very well put
Back on top boys - so good having old Donut back! The ads were absolutely perfect too 👌🏽
id honestly love to see the low team use stock calipers with upgraded pads and rotors maybe fluid. Thats the route most of us would go to on a budget
@Auto Kingdom what would u spend and what would u buy if you’re not spending thousands and not just purchasing brakes and rotors? Not being rude. I literally don’t know an option and would like to know if there is one.
Even on a budget, I would never cheap out on brakes. But that doesn't mean I would spend thousands.
Great series thanks for keeping it alive!
Owning three WRX's to keep one going is honestly the most relatable part of this series.
@2nd_place yeah i know people very glad they bought up old "beaters" during "cash for clunkers" and kept them around, 10k for something that wasnt worth a 1/3 of that at best a few years before... and actualy easy to work on vs modern vehicles..
@Una Salus Victis well, that dream is dead nowadays when you got old beaters going for $10K.
@Critical Event. This isn't related to your comment, but I love your profile picture!
@karl G??? Thought those were reliable minus the cooling systems???
I'm waiting for more head gasket failures
Love the dedication, great series!
I want to see Low Car's braking test with some decent pads. I bet it would be pretty good. Maybe comparable to the AP Racing setup
Was super worried for a moment there! Glad it’s not the end of the road for hi-low. Love this series
Love that you guys just went all in to keep the series going! Such a good time
James: has had an actual heart attack
Also James: “bleeding these brakes is the worst thing that’s ever happened to me”
Dude really had a heart attack?? Ummm ok …. LA…. Did lose weight a few years back….. ok must went to hard on the white 👃 ❄️ 👀
@Joshua Devers
Hand pump pressure bleeders are the best honestly. I use one at work, ten minutes tops once the wheels are off.
Then gets in a wreck like the next day XD
@Malcolm Bell have fun mate😂😂😂😂
@STLLSLW you guys aren’t pumping me up to bleed the brembos on my g🤣
Production and Editing quality of Donut is amazing.
Simple, Easy to follow and the placement of their ads is genius. Flows Everytime.
Love you guys at 🍩
Man I love this episode especially the surprise new hi car part you guys are awesome and that never give up working on cars part made my day /night lol I work night shift ,love all you guys !! You guys are all hilarious at times keep up the awesome work !!
Glad you guys are okay. Would really have broke my heart if one of you got hurt.
Actually was worried the series was over 😅 it’s always been my favorite
“Pumping these brakes are the worst thing that’s ever happened to me.” That right there is what they call foreshadowing.
But seriously I feel for James. Between his Instagram post and him saying he doesn’t feel qualified I can tell that was hard on him. Even if that had been the end of HiLow we would still love you James. You will always be qualified to us.
james just sucks at driving, no way around that
@karl G I meant more in the sense that it would have been the end of this season like Jobe said in the video.
Well when the other host worked for their skills, it's kinda shitty how there's one who doesn't know or tries to learn anything else besides talking.
You really had me going there...I'm glad I'm buying all the merch to keep the dreams alive!!!!
would be interesting, how mutch the difference to stock from the low breaks are. Is it worth the cheap upgrade or just stick to stock and save up for high breaks?
Thank you for this series and my thought for decades that owning a Subaru (especially a modified one)is a costly disappointing decision for an independent no budget driver.
You guys at @donutmedia need to make this series comparing brand new and used car experiences.
The fact that Jer came out to help film even when he wasn't scheduled is a testament to how awesome it must be to work at Donut. When you want to work. That says a lot.
Their job seems fun. Also, Jer and Zach have a bromance for the ages.
I swear that felt like some movie scene with him rolling up in his catfish camaro. I love jer.
Jeremiah sucks
Who's not going to go to a free track day?
@Vishnu Keezheth Yea cause filming, etc. always just go according to plan lol
Such a nice episode!! Love how much work you put on the show! Please do a ride from US to Costa Rica one day as a challenge! Maybe 2 teams !
⬆️Congrats you won a prize🎁🎉🎊
.
Never give up, a line every Subie owner heard 🔥🔥
I love this series so much!!!!
I love having all the non host helping and being on camera
I don't know why but watching James do a promo shot right after the wreck was gold 😂😂😂
On brand for sure, had me dyin'
Gotta recoup the losses where you can.
Would be interesting to see the dicaces with decent pads
I love this series so much
The story line and production quality is next level - keeps getting better with every episode. Hi/Low should be on the Donut reel, so to speak.
Dude, this is easyly the best show on youtube! Hands down!
WHAT? YOU MEAN I HAVE TO GO RACE A CAR THAT ISNT MINE WITH MONEY THAT ISNT MINE ON THE WEEKEND???? Sounds like a good weekend to me.
Love it!! So awesome that y’all get r done!!
Love how they show the colors of both cars prior to reveal 😂 love these guys videos but y’all might want to have a chat with your edit team
Thanks guys, you’ve solidified my decision to stick with my VR6 project instead of getting into one of these hot messes.
⬆️Congrats you won a prize🎁🎉🎊
I love how they spent time on this color reveal when we saw both cars spin out in the dirt with a new paint job in the intro lolz
Jimmy out there putting his life on the line for the company 😂
That's not Jimmy, that's David, who was named after Jeremiah's dad, David.
@_eighty7 Even if no one would believe they'd actually run over Jimmy for a video, I think it's nice to read someone explaining how that trick worked
@Ice I'm just doubting that someone would think they would do that but I understand your point
@_eighty7 I considered the possibility of the guy joking and was fairly sure he was, but decided to write the comment anyways to answer anyone wondering if he really stood there or not.
@Ice r/whooosh
Always wanted to go Jade Green on my hawkeye too. Love it!
Congrats you won My prize🎁🎉🎊
Claim Now!
I was so scared when you said this might be the end of hi low. This is the best series on TH-clips by far!
⬆️Congrats you won a prize🎁🎉🎊
I love the way everyone's faces just lit up when low car was revealed 😎
⬆️Congrats you won a prize🎁🎉🎊.
You should have used the same brake pads. The brake fade tests was really a test of pads.
If James keeps driving the WRX like that, next episode will be about comparing insurance premiums
😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂
I'm sure they are going to be using that Ebay Motors sponsorship to the max at this rate.
Someone should set up a engine counter for high car lol
Just like that corner James hit, you nailed it.
Hi/VeryHi
Jer Bear rolling up to the track and starting with, "have you started yet?......can i help?" was a wholesome aF moment.
The good ol' trusty engine chisel
⬆️Congrats you won a prize🎁🎉🎊.
The heart attack i had when he hit jimmy😂
I think the pads had the most to do with the breaking results
James Pumphrey who has had a *literal* heart attack says bleeding brakes is the worst thing to ever happen to him. 😂 Love these guys!
That just helps put into perspective how awful bleeding brakes is
@Naru 'Sanav they dont always work sadly
I hate bleeding brakes too
I just don't understand why they haven't invested in a vacuum bleeder.
From personal experience, after the first heart attack, you realize how many things are worse than one. 😂😭
This song never gets old even when the years past I love it
I would love to see Donut do a Hi - Low with drag cars!
thanks for your hard work boys
⬆️Congrats you won a prize🎁🎉🎊
That moment when james saw the name on that caliper is funny af🤣🤣🤣🤣
New Hi-Low episode idea: Racing schools, James goes to the top of the line school with 1 on 1 coaching, Nolan goes to a budget group class or HPDE weekend.
That's not donut material
I agree
james is not worth wasting time on, that dude sucks at driving
Radford Racing School in Phoenix.
@David Escobar this is a good way to measure the improvement vs comparing them to each other
11:43 made me really fall in love with low car, holy cow that thing is pretty😩
I might speak for many others when I say we’d like to know how the hell the engine blew up just from putting it off track
⬆️Congrats you won a prize🎁🎉🎊
Meanwhile am watching this with my 400$ brakes thinking am fancy🤣
You showed us the low car while looking at high cars paint 😂 the pre reveal
Love how they showed the colors in the intro before they uncovered the cars
@The Sound Majors what's the internet?
@Zach Roberts you must be a new viewer 😂
@Anthony's Malawi Predators meanwhile how's your channel going? Because they're hitting 1 mill consistency
@Jake Wells you must be new to the internet
Aww did you cry
I love how you can see the car un wrapped before they reveal it🤦♂️😂😂
Great video and a load of fun, but one big issue....you really need the same pad compound in my opinion.
👆Thanks for Commenting Dm I have something for you🎁
Now do a test with different priced high performance brake pads
my god, wasn't ready for it to end hahaha
Just wanna say that a lot of other groups would’ve bailed on the season due to something like that, the fact you guys decided to not just keep going but to go overtime to get back on schedule is respectable and very much appreciated you guys never fail to keep my love for cars up, Donut Media= 🐐
I’m traumatize in Subarus & I’ve never even owned one lol good job tho boys props for everything you guys have been thru 😅
omg i really thought they were gonna end the series 😭
⬆️Congrats you won a prize🎁🎉🎊..
been a minute since I watched the Donut, but I can see high car guy got himself a new habit
But.. the stock brakes on these cars are actually pretty good track use.
Can't abuse it without support mods like it's a Honda.
I really wish you guys had used the same pad compound on both cars, as it would've made the comparison more meaningful.
That was raw. Feeling it
Been loving this series across the board.
But subarus work better when you have any idea about Subarus. I have a 10 year old tuned wrx hatch that I've never had a problem with.
Still, very entertaining series
Low car wrapped in low car blue is so sick. I'm so glad Nolan chose to keep the tradition going.
I can see I'm 1 in 400, but I say let the tradition die.
I think it’s terrible ugly but I’m glad he did it
Me too. That made me really happy.
low car former wheels and former colour, man that was real trad!
Engine blows up… for the third time…. Just like every one of my friends who owned a wrx lmao
Lol I love the bromance everyone has ! Haha
“Stay tuned to find out”, shows clip of cars wrapped 3 seconds prior. Lol I’m loving this new season guys. Keep it up.
Lol my heart dropped when they said this might be the end of HiLow
Nolan has grown the most out of this series I think, his lap times have been pretty damn good and he can wrench like the best now
It really makes me happy to watch him progress.
@Joshua Chandra also the underdog
James might be the main character but true fans of the show I feel preferred Nolan he's intelligent he can wrench and he's a damn good hand at the wheel
@Glenn Chesley fr him and Adam been carrying
I feel like it's really showcasing how it's not the car, it's the driver. He's been setting the best time in both cars consistently besides Adam.
Yo! When you work out how much High Car has cost you have to include those 5 engines (and two cars!)
They got a different car and it still needs a new engine.
That is the Subaru experience 😂
The brake test was hilarious
I'm not gonna lie. You had me in the first half cap.
So glad hi-low isnt dead lol
From Money Pit in a driveway, to their own warehouse, merch and a production crew.
I've been a subscriber since 300k. I'm so proud to see where you have all ended up.
@Thought Criminal I think it's pride in something you really enjoy is blowing up and being enjoyed by others. Part of the reason they get more views is by getting more subscribers, so if you subscribed a while ago I can see the reason you may feel happy seeing them grow like this. I think you just have to try to get better at understanding other people, and what may drive them even if it doesn't drive you. Everyone feels happiness from different sources.
@Storminmormn6 it’s good show tho
@Thought Criminal It's why I appreciate Lo-car a lot more than Hi-car, even if it's way nicer. You can't get that kind of authenticity you get like with Lo-car. That's Nolan and his team doing everything they can to make it work, just like how your typical garage mechanic would.
i'll never understand how someone can have pride in something they didn't build , don't own, and don't even know anyone involved with something...
@Storminmormn6 yeah its what youtube influencers are all about
they get big and when they get big they get greedy then when that happens they lose touch of what made them big , VERY much like mightycarmods in Australia, or cleetus mcfartland, or boostedbois or other click bait boring crap shows like heavyddiesel, a prime example is ROADKILL by motortrend, they did exactly that, and the word is going WOKE, motortrend went big got greedy and lost touch of what made them big then they went off youtube to do a pay per view style crap(much like cleetus mcfarmland)
only americans can watch roadkill on the website, the rest of the world has to get and pay for a VPN then they have to pay for a motortrend subscription to watch.
motortrend lost millions of subscribers over night by getting big getting greedy and by going woke, a lot of people have also left motortrend over the recent years
I don't think I wanna buy a WRX anymore. Thanks DONUT!
That Low Blue is amazing
I thought for sure that the yellow paint would make the difference. Maybe they should have also come with stickers.🤔
Okay the reading of the ebay motor script while brake fading was hilarious hahahahaha
Love how High Car has been a huge moneypit in this series. It's proving that a less expensive car can be in a better place to build, if you know what you're doing.
@kabob21 not really i mean, their engine blew on the first episode iirc
It's a money pit through their own fault not the failure of the car/parts.
@Dadams I’m always rooting for lo-car because I’m a cheap bastard🤣🤣 Although I thought Tein was a budget option for suspension😅
stuffing a car with every bit of cash isn't great for longevity, but you know what is? OUR SPONSOR RAID SHADOW LEGENDS. but also, rooting for low car this time around
I honestly feel bad for them and am so happy for their efforts but I can't help but feel like this was inevitable lol it's a Subaru
i hate myself for hating everyone in this video for how awesome their work lives must be
Would be interesting to see what would happen if they put better pads on low car with those cheap brakes
Maaaaannnn!!!! You f'n had me! I got super sad dude! I'm glad you were kidding about stopping this show!!
Lmao the fact that James plugged the zip ties right after crashing is hilarious
Were the brakes "broken in" to prevent glazing? Just sent it or come in "preworn"
Give Eddie his own show!😂
⬆️Congrats you won a prize🎁🎉🎊.
Love that you gave away low car color in high car colors montage
when i was 18 my boss made me always climb up into the cars on lifts to pump the brake pedal while he could stand up under the car to turn the bleeder valves. every now and again he would make me come back down and do something and get back up in the car. it took me so long to realize what he was doing
This is the hi\lo-money pit collab we weren't expecting. 🤣
@AMV12S EJ20's were best kept at 2L, not 2.5L. That's why in Japan they kept the Ej207 for as long as they could :D
@AMV12S agreed. They really lost their teeth after like 2005-7 for most of their models. I have an 04 fxt and an 03 impreza as a winter beater and theyve never given me anywheres near the troubles i used to have with my 08 impreza, and they feel better to drive to boot. I don't know what happened in Subaru but over the years, WRX and STI became less rally focused and more "civilian"...
2:23 don't give your editor a christmas bonus 😂😅
Holy shit, I love you guys but there's no way in hell I'd ever own a Subaru after watching this series haha

The brake pads are the most important component of these kits
I thought jimmy just had balls of steel for a second
