@creative name it has very minor pitch correction (auto tune) and has been compressed a large amount. But that doesn’t change the fact that it doesn’t match up to what his lips are doing in it.

This entire song sounds pitch corrected throughout to me. Every pitch, even in the 5+ note runs, are perfectly on. I have listened to Puth live a lot and he doesn't have perfect singing pitch for live performances. I hear the trill now that you point it out, kind of a vibrato, but that's not what I'm equating to pitch correction here. The entire thing sounds very standardly pitch corrected.
As far as a timestamp, the high note at 1:30 is egregiously pitch corrected lol. I've heard the robotic, sharp pitch correction sound 1000 times when I'm processing vocals that missed a pitch and I'm surprised he left it in.
Disclaimer though, Charlie Puth makes awesome music and I love him as a musician. But the comment that acts like he always sings perfectly on pitch and rhythm is definitely ignoring all the production on these acoustic covers.

@Morto I’ll be the first to admit that @charlieputh tends to overproduce/overcorrect his voice - I suppose that’s the downside of him having perfect pitch, that notes that make a voice sound ‘real’ are annoyingly ‘off’ to him. However, I’ve paid very close attention to this song as well as his lips/chest and 1) I actually think it’s the sound that was recorded during this clip (he’s not lipsyncing, as someone suggested) 2) the post-production correction isn’t really audible - to me, at least. His voice has a natural ‘trill’/vibrato and a somewhat ‘metallic’ quality that many people mistake for autotune.
I find it a real pity that he always corrects his voice as aggressively as he does, because even at his worst, he’s more ‘on key’ than most contemporary performers, even the ‘greatest’
Could you post a timestamp where you think it’s audible that the pitch was altered?

@Denise Goodnite Speaking of perfect pitch, I think it's not necessarily true to have to be a baby in order to develop perfect pitch. I developed it during freshman year in high school (I'm a senior now). Just like you said, it just requires memory, like flash cards.

@Rebecca White his actual voice has a ‘trill’ and a somewhat metallic sound to it that people mistake for autotune. That is not to say that he tends to overuse autotune - because unfortunately and quite unnecessarily, he does - but here, that’s not the case.

@WalkN Talk That’s fascinating - of all the people in our era that we might consider ‘geniuses’ in their field, Michael Jackson would *never* come to mind, to me - you and I obviously have completely different standards or definitions considering the term ‘musical genius’. My de facto standard anyone would have to live by, would be Mozart: a musician who’s capable of playing music by ear, preferably well-versed in multiple instruments, *definitely* masters a variety of musical styles (classical, contemporary, jazz, etc). Who hears music in each and every mundane sound and can turn it into a musical piece. @jacobcollier fits that bill, as does @charlieputh. Without going into detail: Michael Jackson does not, as far as I know.

@Burp964 there needs to be more to be a musical genius, in my opinion. He's incredible, of course, but how i define musical genius is something like michael jackson - formulating entire hit songs instantaneously, as if god gave you the song himself.

I actually find his tendency to overproduce his voice rather annoying, because for some reason (his perfect pitch?) he feels the urge to ‘brush’ away every human variation. Having said that, his natural voice has a ‘trill’ and a metallic quality to it that many people mistake for autotune. In this case, there is of course some post-production going on, but the pitch correction is inaudible to me (I’ve listened several times). If it’s there, it’s nowhere near as aggressive and evident as in his commercial releases
