Great job Andrew. I look forward to watch more from you during the playoffs.

This has been the most talented team I have witnessed since 1988 when I started being a fan of this team.
What this team has in spades in terms of raw God given talent. They lack the physicality and drive of the 93 to 96 leafs and 1999 to 2004 leafs.
Sadly seeing this team not coming close to developing in there playoff performances over the last 5 seasons. I am calling Tampa in 6 or 7. Tampa is to good to not beat a coasting team.
If the leafs string a solid multi game 60 min showing yes they can easily win in 5 or 6 but I haven't seen this team yet put in a solid effort more then 3 games of a 7 game series, hence there struggles.

The tougher the competition, the better they play.
So, this shouldn't be any different. Leafs in 6.
You and Steve Dangle should team up with the rants and so on.
If you've seen his LFR videos, you'll know.
    Great work as always.

You need well rounded players in the playoffs. Bit of grit, some good hands, back checking, clutch players, character.
You can't just take out Spezza and put in Simmonds and say, hey presto, we are a tough playoff team.
    It won't work.

  • Ron Matthews

Some Leafs avoid physical contact NOBODY on Tampa avoids physical contact.
I am a huge Leafs fan but I don't think this Leafs team can beat a very good and physical Tampa team.

Time to stand tall with Leafs merch and cheer them on. I certainly hope Dubas doesn't get fired. We are to close to have another GM come in and put his personal mark on the team.....unless it's Mark Hunter LOL. Buds in 6. Lets see who shows up game 1 & 2. Then we will know where we stand. Look what happened to Detroit in the early 2000's. They were getting crucified for sticking to their plan......then they won. Don't let the media run the show. Lets go.

    I've been watching since 1980.
We've had three strong playoff teams.
1979 (of course I was 4 so I probably saw it but read about it too)
All of those teams were a little less offensive than the 2017-2022 leafs; however, look at the grit in the lineup.
These were guys, like Roberts, Clark, even Dougie, who were tazmanian devils in the corners for example.
I like Marner but he's going to get pushed right off the puck.
Look at the names from 2004: Roberts, Domi, Belak, Leetch (ring), Marchment, Mcabe, Nieuwendyk, Nolan, Renberg and Tucker.
Have any of the teams in the past 5 years been nearly as tough? I'd say no.
You can do the same from 1992 (Clark, Ellett, McCoun, Rouse, Gilmour, even Zezel and Foligno were scrappy et al.) (only Borishevsky was in the Nylander-Matthews-Marner level of softness)
    and 1979 (Salming et al.).
The toughest team from 2016-2022 was Lou's in 2017.
I put these failures squarely on Dubas.

@Big Dave We beat mtl 5-1 in game 2 last year ya?

    • Big Dave
      Big Dave 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

@Geoffrey Currie There you go Geoff. Game 1, a good start. Had that been the Leafs on the other end of such a loss, Leaf fans would have been tearing their hair out. Cooper said 2 weeks ago, that in his view, the Leafs are a really dangerous team. Still think they're soft? I don't. Let's see what they do in game 2. BTW, I bet on Boston tonight thinking about that "tenacity", but Carolina with their back up 'tender beat them, anyway. I may have to re-think my Boston leans.

    • Big Dave
      Big Dave 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

@Geoffrey Currie You were talking about '04. '02 Leafs definitely tougher. The post season is knowing what the levels have to be. I think they know. I'm not saying they'll win, but they are stronger this year. Last year Habs were a heavy team. Huge D, (Weber, Chariot, Edmunston, Petry, Romanov, Kulak) very similar to TBay, but you forget, the Leafs outplayed them in every game except game 7. They lost because of Price & making stupid mistakes, Galchenyuk, Dermott, Marner, Thornton & Sandin to name a few. Tampa is not quite as good as last year. We'll see what happens, that's why you play the games. I remain hopeful.

I'm not nervous. Get the hardest series out of the way while the guys are fresh. I've been a Leafs fan longer than most of your viewers have been alive. I saw them win their last Stanley Cup. New to this channel. Enjoyed this video until the last few minutes. Disagree with your take on Dubas being fired if Leafs don't advance. Disagree that we can "take our pick" of players that could be traded outside of Marner and Matthews... There's clearly going to be change but let's not pretend Tavares or Rielly are going anywhere with the captain's NMC and alt captain's fresh new 8 year contract. I also don't think it's realistic that the Leafs win in 5 but I won't fault you for that. Leafs in 6. :)

I'm entirely confident in saying the only way Dubas and/or Keefe lose their jobs based on this series is if the Leafs get run over. If this series goes the distance and is hard fought, I think it gets chocked up to that the Leafs ran into a juggernaut Tampa team and that's the breaks sometimes. And I don't think that'd be the wrong decision. Player moves of some significance would most likely happen because the cap virtually dictates it needs to, but I don't see the GM or the coach getting the door. If the Leafs go out in some embarrassing fashion like they did vs Montreal, or if they were to get swept then yeah the axe falls imo at that point. This team does need to win, no question. And I think they will. But I don't see the results of this series being nearly as black and white as you do. I think firing people for the sake of firing people solely based on whether they win or lose to Tampa in the first round potentially could set them back and doesn't actually serve the organization in any positive manner.

  • John Tapscott

this is the time if we're true LEAFS fans.
Toronto has in this team, the best team
    to achieve the STANLEY CUP!!
    organizations foolishly believe they can
    create/build a ' STANLEY CUP TEAM '.
which even players know they can't.
it's not a franchise that wins, but players. so if LEAFS fans want them to
win. than stop being critics and back
your players. they're going to go through
    a difficult/trying. even where you're to
really struggle. unknown waters for them, that's where " LEAFS NATIONS " to
    back them. NO MATTER WHAST!!!!!
at that time fans bail, THEN THEY'RE
    NOT FANS!!!!!!!!
    just fake or seasonal fans.
it's like having friends and when you really need them.........they turn they're
    back on you.

You cannot analyse how good a team will be in the playoff by quoting regular season stats. President trophy winners rarely do well.
The playoffs is a balls to the wall gritty game. I think you are going to see the Leaf's offence struggle in this kind of game.

  • C_TelKing
    C_TelKing 19 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

I want them to win more than anything, but when hitting season starts and the forechecking becomes aggressive, the Leafs buckle. We saw it in the Columbus series we saw it in the Habs series, we saw it in every Bruins series. You talk about how good the offense is, but I think they're going to struggle to score goals again. So it will come down to goal tending and the Leafs don't have it. Dubas has also put this team in a position where they are relying on 2 veteran scrappers to win, without Cliffy and Simmonds the Leafs would be in SERIOUS trouble. I'll say Leafs in 6. But Tampa in 5 wouldn't shock me either
